The Master of Public Health is a professional master's degree awarded for studies in areas related to public health. The Council on Education for Public Health has accredited 37 schools of public health in the U.S. through a formal review process, however, many other schools have MPH programs.

The MPH is usually a one or two year program, with many students already possessing an advanced degree. The degree is designed to educate students on five core public health areas: health services administration, biostatistics, epidemiology, behavioral sciences/health education, and environmental health sciences.

bende okullarin bi listesi olucakti bi ara ama nerde bilmiyorum biraz bakinmam lazim. Bir ara bende dusunmustum MPH yapmayi sonra research yapmak daha makul olur diye karar verdim. Bu sayede hem para vermek yerine alma sansim olucak, hem de LOR icin sansim olucakti. Bide GRE, halk sagligindan mektup vs gibi bicok basagrisindan kurtuldum. Eger paran varsa, yilda 20-30bin dolari bulur ve tekrar matematik vs calismayi (bir ay filan alri herhalde, bisuru kitaplari var) goze alabiliyorsan cok mantikli bi karar olur. Amerika'da alinan degree'leri her zaman cok severler, sansini arttirir mutlaka, ve dusunsene ismin hep atiyorum,

Reha, ciddi dusunuyorum MPH isini bu siralar.. sadece MATCH'deki avantajindan değil aynı zamanda "health services administration" konusu çok ilgimi çekiyor. Hastane yöneticiligi, ilaç firmalarinda yöneticilik gibi kapıları da aciyor bildiğim kadariyla MPH. Benim ALA'dan mezun bir abim çukurova tıp üstüne gitti amerikada MPH aldı ve direkt mezuniyetten 2sene geçmemişti konuştuğumda İstanbul'da Novartis Kardiyolojik ilaçlarindan sorumlu yöneticiydi kendisi.
   Tabi bunu bu yöne gitmeyi düşündüğümden söylemiyorum, öncelik tabiki doktorluk ama böyle bir kapının da herzaman açık olması güzel birşey. Belki ilerleyen yaşlarda insan düşünebilir, değil mi?
   Rehacim, bu MPH icin ne gibi başvuru kriterleri var(GRE puanı vs)? Yılın herhangibi donemi başvurulur mu? Direk okullara mi başvurulur? gibi konularda bilgin varsa biraz anlatabilir misin? Bir de MD mi olman lazim MPH icin? yani bir de diploma işi çıkmasin başımıza birkez daha... 
   Acaba MPH yaparken volunteer research assistant tarzi bişey de aynı anda yürütülebilir mi, ne dersin?

MD olmana gerek yok. listesini bi yerden bul okullarin ve hepsine mail at kriterlerini sor. Genelde basvurular eylul donemi icin subat-mart gibi deadline olur, subat donemi icin ise yine eylul gibi deadline olur. Bu kis basvurmayi hedefle, seneye eylul basla derim ben.  O kis donemi icindede interviewlara gider gelirsin. Kisa kadar git, kizilayda bi yer vardi ismini unuttum, kitapcilar varya hani, ordan GRE sinavlari icin kitaplari topla bir ay calis. Toefl'da alman lazim tabi. Kabul almasi cok zor degil hocam, girersin mutlaka bi yere. Ancak yine bu is icin ayri personal statement, ayri referans mektuplari, transcipt vs. sittin tane is acilicak basina haberin olsun . bide bazi yerler iki bazi yerler bir yil, onlara bi iyice bak. 30 kusur okul var. tez filanda yok hocam, bildigin master iste. Istersen MBA yani isletme masterida yapabilirsin, onu yapanda bisuru kisi var. ama o iki yil olur tabi. Eger sirket filan dusunuyorsan Amerika'da isletme masteri, MPH'den daha faydali olur

ama para sorun degil diyorsan hakikaten ciddi dusunulebilecek bir secenek. Ben oyle bi adam gormustum isminden sonra, MD, MPH, PhD diye uzadikca gidiyordu , tum alinabilecek "titre"leri toplamis.

What are the requirements to apply for an MPH?

Prior Education
All applicants to the MPH program must have an advanced degree (Master's or Doctoral level). Medical/dental students, who plan to enter the program after completing the 3rd or 4th year of medical/dental school, may also apply.

Standardized Tests
The general test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required of all applicants.  Students who have completed degrees and are working in careers requiring scores from the DAT, GMAT, MCAT, or LSAT may submit those scores in lieu of the GRE.  Please note that students may not submit scores from the GMAT or LSAT if they have not completed business school or law school, and are not working in business or law.  All other students must complete the GRE regardless of prior experience.   

Students must submit scores in accordance with the official reporting rules of the Educational Testing Service (ETS).  For example, GRE scores more than 5 years old generally cannot be reported by ETS.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all international applicants whose native language is not English or who have not attended an English-speaking university. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is also acceptable.

** All test scores must be received by the application deadline to be considered for admission to the upcoming academic year.

Transcripts
Official transcripts from all colleges and universities must be submitted.

Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation must be submitted.  These letters should be from people who know the candidate well and who have supervised or directed the candidate.  Letters may also be from a professor or instructor who is familiar with the applicant's academic work.

How long does it take to complete the MPH program?

The program is typically completed in nine months of full-time study beginning in September and ending in May. Degree students may also begin their studies with the HSPH Summer Session for Public Health Studies in July, thereby permitting eleven months of study, which enables them to take advantage of the rich selection of elective courses.  This option allows students to complete a broader selection of courses or gain greater experience in a specified area.

Admission to HSPH programs is granted for either July or September.  HSPH does not offer mid-year admissions.   

Part-time: Students, particularly those who are working in or near the Boston area, may take courses part-time and may have up to three years to complete the program.

Ways to Earn the Master of Public Health (MPH)

The MPH program is flexible and can be customized to meet a variety of professional and career goals.  Students may study on a full-time basis, or on a part-time/Internet-based basis.  Full-time and Part-time/Internet-based students have the same academic requirements and receive the same the degree.

Full-time Study
The full-time option is a concentrated eleven-month course of study at the East Baltimore campus that begins each year in July.  The program attracts students from all over the world to our campus in Baltimore, Maryland.  The courses are structured to provide the core MPH requirements early in the academic program, followed by advanced and elective coursework in the later part of the academic year.  Most courses are offered in a face-to-face format during daytime hours, but students may supplement their schedules through participation in off-campus and online course offerings.

Part-time/Internet-based Study
Part-time/Internet-based students complete the MPH degree within three years of matriculation. The program begins semi-annually in January and June with orientation and introductory coursework.  Students can earn up to 80% of their academic credits online, with the remaining 20% being earned in a face-to-face format.  Earning face-to-face credits is flexible and can be accomplished in a variety of ways.  Students may earn face-to-face credits through a combination of in-person classes taken either on the East Baltimore or Montgomery County campuses during regular academic terms or intensive learning summer and winter institutes, or at other sites where Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health courses are offered for credit.

Harvard MPH icin senelik 30000 dolar gibi bir sey odemeniz gerekiyor hatirladigim kadariyla. Mesela Harvard Children's Hospital'da bazi asistanlar icin hastane oduyordu bu parayi, asistanligini yaparken ayni zamanda MPH derecesini de aliyorlardi. Girmek cok kolay bu programlara disardan onu soyleyeyim. Hatta bunu bitirmis tanidigim da var. Ama cok para lazim, parasi cok olan basvursun derim, zarar gelmez bence.
